Your dog is ruining your relationship: 7 signs that your pet is hindering your couple.
According to The Sun: Your dog may be man's best friend, but he can become an enemy to your partner.
While we are busy lavishly caring for our pets, your love life might be taking a hit.
Does your dog sleep in your bed with you?
Despite the cost of living crisis, we pamper our furry friend with expensive gifts. According to a survey by the genetic analysis service Wisdom Panel, a third of us have thrown birthday parties for our pets.
But your love for your pup can win at the cost of your relationship.
Let sleeping dogs lie
You might enjoy having your pup in bed with you, but what does it do to your sex life?
Apart from logistical issues, it doesn’t send a good signal to your partner. It signals that you don't think they are important enough to have a space that's just for you and them.
You’re not prioritizing them, and it shows.
In couples therapy, I often talk about life as a pizza and ask clients where the section dedicated solely to them and their partner is.
Obedience
Communication is important in relationships, and part of that is listening to what your partner has to say.
But if one of you is constantly lavishing attention on your pup, the other may feel ignored.
In this situation, I would focus my attention on the person who is doting on their pet.
First, I would ask what exactly they are afraid to discuss with their partner.
They need to address any issues head-on and stop hiding behind their pup.
Untidiness
Owning a pet has its rewards, but certainly comes with its downsides.
One of the less favorable aspects of dog ownership is the excessive mess, slobber, and occasional accidents.
But fur, slobber, and random mishaps can be more offensive to one person than another.
Frequent complaints about things being dirty in a shared home arise from deeper reasons.
It may be anxiety or they may have had health issues.
However, if you care about your partner, you should make compromises.
It might be worth taking extra care to clean muddy paw prints in the hallway or vacuum the couch more often.
This vibrant narrative describes the issues that arise in couples due to excessive attention being given to the dog. Lack of obedience, cleanliness issues, and other aspects of pet ownership can affect interpersonal relationships. Unresolved issues can lead to additional conflicts in the relationship. The guidance is to find a balance in shared living, taking into account the needs of both partners and the four-legged pet.
