Hiroshima and Nagasaki: Unknown Details of the First Nuclear Bombings.
August 6, 1945, became a day that changed the course of world history - on this day, the first atomic bomb was dropped. The Americans struck the city of Hiroshima, and three days later - Nagasaki.
After the surrender of Germany, Japan continued to fight under the leadership of desperate commanders. The American command decided to test a new weapon to destroy important targets and undermine the morale of the Japanese.
Thanks to the atomic bomb 'Little Boy' on Hiroshima and 'Fat Man' on Nagasaki, over 80,000 people were killed and another 200,000 suffered from radioactive contamination.
The bombing plans changed significantly, and Nagasaki ended up on the 'death list.' However, due to technical issues, the bomber was redirected to Nagasaki instead of Kokura.
Pilot Charles Sweeney believed his actions were correct, while Claude Robert Iznerly experienced pangs of conscience, even though he personally did not drop bombs on the cities.
The atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki left incurable wounds in the history of Japan and the entire world, demonstrating the horrific consequences of using nuclear weapons during war.
