Friendship for decades

Richard wowed with his latest Instagram post, where he smiles alongside American vocalist Curtis Stigers.

In the photos, they are depicted in front of a gray metal gate, both with broad smiles.

Curtis was in a black jacket while Richard wore a beige jacket and a stylish white shirt.

The actor posted three shots, complementing them with an old photo of Curtis.

In the caption to the photo he wrote:

“ALWAYS a five [star] pleasure to spend time with my great friend @thecurtisstigers whom I met in 1991 in LA when his first huge hit I WONDER WHY hit the charts. Been friends for 34 years, long before our hair went grey! He’s playing his final gig THIS WEEK @officialronnies tonight in Soho.”

Curtis, who is 59, quickly replied:

“Not my final gig ever just my final gig of the week! I’ll be back at Ronnie Scott’s in February! Lovely to see you Richard.”

Musical achievements

Curtis is best known for his 1991 song 'I Wonder Why'. This track reached fifth place in the official UK singles chart, and his self-titled album reached the seventh position. The album received two platinum certifications from BPI (British Phonographic Industry).

The following single 'You’re All That Matters to Me' reached sixth place in the UK charts in 1992.

Career continuation

He is currently on tour in the USA and the UK with concerts, including a return to Stroud for a performance on December 4.

Curtis also spoke about his 14th studio album:

“Some of the original songs are relatively new and some are many years old and only now getting a chance to be heard and sung. I like to think I curated this album as much as I created it.”

He explained that

“The process was organic and casual. I’d wake up in the morning, drink a cup of tea and choose a song to record – one of my own or one that I’d been thinking about and playing around the house.”

In January, his vocal abilities once again drew attention when fans of 'Masked Singer' were convinced that he was the character Dressed Crab on the ITV show. In the end, it turned out that this character was Grammy winner Gregory Porter.
