Gooseberries in the garden have started to dry out - how and what to do to save the harvest.
Ukrainian dacha owners have noticed that gooseberries have started to dry out frequently. Gardeners explain this by the lack of nutrients, overheating of the roots, or plant diseases. However, there are effective methods that can help save the harvest.
Fertilizing the bushes
It is recommended to add wood ash to the gooseberry bushes in July. It contains potassium and phosphorus, which are beneficial for the berries and root system.
Protecting roots from heat
To protect the root system from overheating, it is advisable to mulch the bushes with straw, grass, or cardboard. Agrofabric can also be used for shading the plants.
Checking for diseases
If spots or other signs of disease are detected, a garlic or wormwood infusion can be used for treatment. Adding household soap to the infusion will increase the effectiveness of the measures.
Some steps from problems to solutions have been made, but I would recommend adding household soap to better protect the gooseberry bushes in the garden.
