How to Properly Store Christmas Decorations ‒ Useful Tips.

It's always a bit sad to part with the Christmas tree and decorations. But don’t be too upset - by the end of the year, they will once again please your eyes and warm your heart.

To keep the Christmas decorations well-preserved and looking like new, Gazeta.ua has gathered a few tips.

When packing decorations from the tree, you should first set aside the figurative and fragile ones. Lay down several layers of paper or kitchen towels at the bottom of the box.

Place larger decorations of the same shape as the first layer. Lay paper on top of them. And place the breakable and irregularly shaped decorations above them. Before closing the box, cover the decorations with paper. Exclusive or collectible decorations are best stored in individual packaging.

Before storing glass decorations, a review is necessary. Decorations with chips should be thrown away immediately. The rest need to be wrapped in paper and placed in a box with dividers. It is better to store glass decorations in hard boxes and containers. At the same Time, the containers should not deform, and the decorations should not rub against each other.

The main thing in storing garlands is to prevent the wires from getting tangled and the bulbs from staying intact. Therefore, it is better to wind the garland on cardboard, a piece of wood, or a hanger. Wind the garland in a spiral, maintaining the order of the turns and straightening the bulbs. The gathered garland can be stored along with other decorations.

Christmas Wreath Storage

Christmas wreaths usually have a voluminous shape, and compact packaging won't work. They need to be stored so that dust does not get on them, as washing or cleaning them later will not be possible. Therefore, it is better to use food wrap or paper towel for storing wreaths. The wrapped wreath should be hung on a hook or placed in an individual box.

Throughout the year, Christmas decorations should not be sorted through and preferably not moved from place to place. Therefore, immediately choose a spot where they will remain until the next New Year.
