Americans stock up on food and medicine, fearing Trump’s new taxes.

Tariff concerns affect American shopping
According to research, due to the restrictions imposed by President Trump, one in five Americans is now buying more goods than usual. Most of them state that tariffs significantly affect their major purchases, while others acknowledge that tariffs will contribute to costs, but still do not know how strongly this will affect them.
According to S&P Global, new tariffs could lead to a 0.7% increase in inflation if they remain in effect until 2025.
It is worth noting that the introduction of tariffs aims to stimulate the domestic market and support local companies.
Currently, the most popular products among shoppers are non-perishable food, toilet paper, and medicine. However, people have started to buy more supplies due to fears of rising prices.
Research also shows that one in five Americans is worried about future financial problems, which impacts their consumption.
Uncertainty in Trump’s trade policy negatively affects consumer and investor confidence, and may also accelerate inflation in the U.S.
It is worth noting that protests across the country against Trump’s policies include protests against the dismissal of federal officials and prosecutors. Additionally, people express their dissatisfaction with the tariffs on steel and aluminum.
