According to inkorr.com: Andriy Agafonov, center of the basketball club 'Cherkasy Mavpy', announced his retirement at the age of 39. He published this news on his Instagram page, emphasizing that the decision was unexpected for him, as he had dreamed of ending his career at 40 years old.
The corresponding match took place in the regular championship of the Ukrainian Super League, where his team lost to 'Kharkiv Sokoliv'. In this game, Agafonov scored 11 points and made two rebounds. One of his last achievements was winning a bronze medal in the 2024/2025 season with the team 'Cherkasy Mavpy'.
Agafonov's Long Career
Agafonov began his career over 30 years ago at the club 'Khimik' in 2001. During this time, he played for various teams in Ukraine and abroad, including 'Budivelnyk', 'Odesa', 'Ternopil', and other clubs. His career also included performances in Germany, Lithuania, and Romania.
Among the significant achievements of the athlete are the gold medal of the Super League and the Cup of Ukraine with 'Budivelnyk' in 2012, but he is especially known for his bronze medals.
