Annexation of Belarus: ISW claims threats to the West.
According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the Kremlin has almost annexed Belarus, posing a threat to the West. Analysts believe that Russia is turning Belarus into its strategic partner and will use it to offset the costs of the war against Ukraine. This will allow Russia to accelerate its recovery and prepare for future conflicts. Moreover, Russia seeks to control all aspects of governing Belarus, including military, political, and economic spheres. Currently, the Russian Federation has significant achievements in annexing Belarus and poses a threat to the USA, NATO, and Belarus itself as an independent state. Policymakers should closely monitor this process, as Russia has already created enough threats to the West since 2020.
