Rebels continue their offensive: Assad is not in the capital of Syria
More than a week ago, rebels launched an offensive in Syria against Bashar Assad's regime. According to CNN, the president is not in the capital, Damascus.
The president's administration officially claims that Assad has not left the capital. However, informed sources report that the Syrian leader is not in his usual places of residence in Damascus.
According to the source, the Presidential Guard, which usually protects his residence, is no longer where it should be if Assad were present. This has led to speculation that he may have fled the city.
This elite guard traditionally ensures the president's safety, part of which accompanies Assad during his movements.
Sources also note that rebel forces currently have no clear information about the whereabouts of the Syrian president but continue their search.
