Axios: Europe Faces Double Crisis Due to US Position.


The Trump administration has caused economic and security crises in Europe. As a result of decades of underinvestment and low productivity, the continent suffers from reduced US security commitments, new export tariffs, and restrictions on local companies. Axios reports this.
President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen proposes to relax EU fiscal rules to increase defense spending and focus on geopolitical conflicts and economic security. She expressed this proposal in her speech in Munich.
Mario Draghi, former president of the European Central Bank and Prime Minister of Italy, notes that EU policy negatively impacts the economy more than American tariffs. He argues that the EU has failed to address supply and demand issues due to strict regulatory policies and reduced public investment.
American officials are in Riyadh for negotiations with Russian representatives regarding the future of Ukraine. This is the first such negotiation since the Russian invasion in 2022. Ukrainian and European leaders are not participating in these negotiations.
