Bafta-winning Top Boy star Micheal Ward appears in court charged with twice raping woman and sexually assaulting her.

According to The Sun: The star of the series Top Boy, BAFTA award winner, appeared in court due to allegations of raping and sexually assaulting a woman.

Micheal Ward, who is also known for roles in the films Blue Story and The Old Guard, allegedly committed these crimes in January 2023.

The 27-year-old actor, who was born in Jamaica, is charged under two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault. All charges relate to one woman, confirmed by the metropolitan police.

Ward was spotted entering Thames Magistrates’ Court wearing black sunglasses during his first appearance in court.

He only answered questions about his name, address, and date of birth.

The actor was granted conditional release on the provision that he does not contact the victim until a hearing at Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 25.

“I deny the allegations, I understand that proceedings are ongoing, and I have full faith that this will lead to the clearing of my name,” Ward stated earlier.

Career and Plans

His first role on screen was in 2016 in the film Brotherhood. He gained significant recognition in 2019 for portraying Jamie in the third season of the Netflix series Top Boy.

He also appeared in the drama Empire of Light directed by Sam Mendes, where he starred alongside Olivia Colman. For this role, he received a BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

Ward also won the BAFTA Rising Star award for his performance in the British musical crime drama Blue Story. The actor is currently filming the drama Eddington, which also features Pedro Pascal and Joaquin Phoenix.

In 2020, he was included in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list.
