Biden: Putin feared transferring nuclear weapons to Kyiv.

Ukrainian nuclear weapons could be obtained by Ukraine, and this worried Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was stated by U.S. President Joe Biden in his interview with MSNBC, where he mentioned his conversation with Putin.
'Tactical nuclear weapons in Europe scared everyone to death, even the Russians. Even the Russians,' he said.
Putin fears transferring nuclear weapons to Ukraine because he believes missiles could be directed at Moscow.
'In one of our conversations, Putin told me that he wanted to be sure that there were no nuclear weapons in Ukraine, Ukraine would not join NATO, and NATO would not expand. He even made a very impressive remark: 'I know you can destroy me tomorrow. You could strike Moscow',' Biden stated.
The U.S. President insisted that this would not happen, as Ukraine is not a NATO member and its integration cannot occur without changes in the system.
'I clearly made it clear that Ukraine will not join NATO until it makes significant changes in its system. We will continue to support Ukraine, but these conditions remain unchanged. Additionally, I emphasized that Russia cannot invade Ukraine, annex its territory, or establish borders by force,' Biden stressed.
