Baroness drummer Allen Blickle has died at the age of 42.

According to The Sun: Heavy metal drummer Allen Blickle has passed away at the age of 42.

Blickle became known as the founding drummer of the metal band Baroness.

The cause of his death remains unclear.

 

“My heart is broken that I have to share the news that my dear friend, creative partner, and former bandmate Allen Blickle has passed away a few days ago,”

– online reported John Baizley, the band's frontman.

 

“I am still in shock that he is no longer with us.”

 

“We ask for understanding while his family and colleagues grieve this loss. Allen, I love you and remember you.”

Blickle founded the band Baroness with Baizley in 2003.

The collective also included bassist Summer Welch and guitarist Tim Lutz.

During the time Blickle was in the band, Baroness released three albums.

He remained with the group for 10 years before being replaced by drummer Sebastian Thompson.

Blickle's death occurred more than ten years after a bus accident in which he was involved.

In August 2012, during a tour in the UK, a bus carrying him and his bandmates fell from a hanging bridge.

Blickle was rushed to the hospital with a broken spine.

He spoke about the accident, stating that he didn't want it to define him.

 

“It made me reconsider a lot in life and was the most challenging situation I have faced up until today,”

– he said in an interview with The Fader in 2013.

 

“It’s terrible memories, but I try not to let them define me or stop what I love. Let it be, and I move on.”

Blickle also shared his health issues.

 

“I still feel physical pain every day,”

– he added then.

 

“It is difficult to sit for more than 20 minutes at a time.”

Blickle left Baroness shortly after the accident and admitted that his relationship with bandmates became more distant.

 

“After the accident, there was distance between us, which I regret as it was mainly my fault,”

– he said.

 

“I sort of push away in the other direction.”

After his death, many people expressed their condolences.
