Beyoncé and Jay-Z Buy Estate in the Cotswolds: Why Are the Stars Moving to the British Countryside.
Stars Choose the Cotswolds for a New Life
According to The Sun: The Cotswolds is becoming the new Hollywood, as more and more famous personalities buy houses in this picturesque area of England.
Following the Beckham family and Ellen DeGeneres, it has been revealed that the famous duo of Beyoncé and Jay-Z is nearing the completion of a deal to purchase 58 acres of land on the outskirts of Wigginton.
AlamyThis duo, recognized as the wealthiest couple among celebrities, has received permission to build an 'impressive country estate.' If their plans come to fruition, the new home will be located near Great Tew, where many showbiz stars already reside.
Residents Concerned About Changes
However, following the negative reaction from local residents regarding the presence of celebrities, the question arises whether Beyoncé, 44, and Jay-Z, 55, will be accepted by the local community.
A resident told MailOnline: 'I don’t give a flying toss,' adding that his wife saw the couple when they entered Burford Garden Centre in their Range Rovers.
'When someone points them out, my wife’s first reaction is to ask who they are. I haven’t even heard of some of these so-called celebrities.'
Another local resident who works in a pub told The Times: 'We love our local customers and don’t want this couple's arrival to bring a different type.'
Why the Cotswolds?
It was previously reported that Beyoncé and Jay-Z began searching for a home in England after the wildfires in Los Angeles.
A source told the Daily Mail: 'They will always be based in Los Angeles, but the UK is on their agenda. Beyoncé loves the UK because they support everything she does.'
The couple is 'focused on the Cotswolds due to the space and nature. They have stayed there.'
'They're looking for property and will buy if they find something that feels like home, but for now, they are considering short-term options until they make a decision.'
Representatives for Beyoncé and Jay-Z are in contact with The Sun.
Recent Purchases by the Couple
In 2023, the couple purchased an impressive house in Malibu, California, for $200 million.
This property, designed by architect Tadao Ando, became the most expensive house sold in California.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z met at the MTV festival in Cancun, Mexico, in the early 2000s, but were just friends for about a year and a half before their relationship became romantic.
The two artists have collaborated on several songs, including the hit 'Crazy in Love,' which was released in 2003.
The couple kept a low profile during their romance and eventually married at a private ceremony in Tribeca, New York, on April 4, 2008.
At the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, Beyoncé announced that she was expecting a child, and on January 7, 2012, they became parents to daughter Blue Ivy Carter.
On June 18, 2017, her father Mathew Knowles confirmed that she gave birth to twins Rumi and Sir.

Thus, as the stars' move to the Cotswolds is celebrated, local residents express concern about the changes that may accompany this phenomenon. And while the bride and groom have their plans for life beyond the US, their presence in the region has already raised many questions. It seems that over time the Cotswolds has every chance of becoming a new hub for celebrities, but at the same time, the culmination of this process is causing mixed reactions in local communities.
