Biathlete Simons Disqualified for 6 Months: What We Know About the Scandal.
According to inkorr.com: French biathlete Julia Simon has come under sanctions from the French Ski Federation (FFS), but she has the opportunity to participate in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina, reports 'Glavkom'.
On November 6, 2025, FFS announced Simon's disqualification for six months due to criminal prosecution. 'Conditional five months will prevent her from participating in competitions, provided she skips only the first start of the season in Swedish Östersund,' the news states.
Simon is also required to pay a fine of 30 thousand euros for fraud and the theft of her teammate's bank card, Justine Brazeau-Boucher.
Although there is an opportunity to appeal the decision, the athlete's lawyer noted that they chose not to challenge it and focus on future competitions.
Court Decision Regarding Julia Simon
The court sentenced Julia Simon to three months of suspended imprisonment and a fine of 15 thousand euros for theft and fraud. The decision was announced on October 24 and includes compensation for her teammate and the federation.
The prosecutor initially proposed less severe prison terms but a higher fine. The charges concerned five counts related to credit card theft and fraud.
Julia Simon, a ten-time world champion and Olympic medalist, intends not to appeal the court's decision to focus on her sporting achievements.
The situation with Simon could serve as an important signal for all athletes about the necessity of adhering to ethics and rules. Ukraine is actively working on improving anti-doping systems and combating violations in sports. Sanctions for violations can be serious, and every athlete must realize that they are responsible for their actions in accordance with the law and sporting norms.
