According to The Sun: A fierce battle has erupted to preserve the name Salford after an offer from a secret buyer. The owner of the club Leigh, Derek Beaumont, is supporting a consortium that includes former player Mason Kaye-Brown, a local resident living in Australia, Malcolm Crompton, and businessman Paul Hancock.
The group led by former Red Devils CEO Chris Irwin is considered the most advanced at this stage.
