Director of the hit Blurred Lines, Diane Martel, has died: what happened.
According to The Sun: Diane Martel, a music video director known for the hit Blurred Lines, has passed away at the age of 63.
Martel, who also worked with Miley Cyrus, died after a long battle with cancer.
InstagramHer family reported that Diane died surrounded by loved ones at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York this Thursday, according to information from Rolling Stone.
She had long struggled with breast cancer.
Among the stars Martel worked with were Robin Thicke, Jennifer Lopez, and Justin Timberlake.
Fame and Scandal
Her popularity surged thanks to Blurred Lines, a song that held the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. for 12 weeks.
In the UK, the track spent five weeks at the top of the singles charts.
In October 2013, this song became the best-selling in the UK.
However, the lyrics of the song sparked controversy: some critics believed it hinted at an unintended sexual act.

Collaboration with Stars
Martel also worked with Cyrus on the video for the track We Can’t Stop.
She talked about how both wanted to create something 'trippy' and similar to a 'giant selfie.'
Martel described Cyrus as a 100% genuine person.
“Miley Cyrus is an impressive young woman — tempestuous, creative, passionate, and very loving,” she said.
“I've never seen such a normal pop star. She is complex and funny.”
Throughout her career, Martel collaborated with stars like Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Pink, Alicia Keys, and Franz Ferdinand.
Martel directed the music video for Mariah Carey’s 1994 track All I Want for Christmas Is You.
She also shot videos for Luther Vandross's hit Dance With My Father Again and Avril Lavigne’s track Nobody's Home.
