Closure of the pub due to staff abuse

According to The Sun: The Half Moon pub, owned by model and TV star Jodie Kidd, has suspended operations following complaints about staff abuse.

The establishment in Chichester, West Sussex, closed for three days so its team could rest after a series of incidents that raised concerns.

Jodie bought the landmark pub in 2017

On its Instagram page, the pub posted a message:

“We have worked hard to create more than just a pub – we have built a home. A place where people can gather, enjoy good moments, and create memories. While we know we may not please everyone, we are saddened that recently we, as a team, have faced abuse – both verbal and physical. We want to remind everyone that behind Half Moon is a team that deeply cares about what we do. We are people. Independent businesses like ours work tirelessly, seven days a week, driven by passion, love, and honesty, to give our best. All we ask in return is respect.”

In a subsequent post, the pub noted:

“Our core team will be taking a deserved short break this week. As many of you know, the behind-the-scenes work never really ends, so it’s necessary to find time to rest and recharge.”

Jodie, 46, bought this 15th-century architectural monument in 2017, saving it from closure, and has since actively helped manage the establishment.

Recently, Half Moon was recognized as one of the seven best celebrity-owned pubs in the UK according to food critic Tom Parker-Bowles.

To understand the significance of these events, it is worth noting that the closure of the establishment due to staff abuse underscores the importance of respect in the workplace. Allegations of abuse often reveal issues that can negatively impact businesses, especially in the hospitality sector. The Half Moon team hopes that this short break will allow them to return with renewed strength and improve the atmosphere in the establishment.
