British Intelligence Identified Issues North Korean Troops Will Face in War Against Ukraine.
North Korea transferred about 10,000 troops to Russia. In the event of a war against Ukraine, they might face a number of problems. This was reported by the British Ministry of Defence on their Twitter.
According to British intelligence, some of the North Korean troops have already been redeployed to Russia's Kursk region.
«For Russia, supporting North Korea in the war against Ukraine is likely the main goal of the partnership, and so far, it has concentrated on supplying weapons to North Korea. On the other hand, North Korea has received high-level support from Russia and found a trading partner willing to violate sanctions», the report states.
The UK is confident that the forces of Russia and North Korea will find it difficult to achieve operational integration, as they have not previously conducted joint military exercises.
«The North Korean troops involved in combat operations are almost certainly going to face issues in managing Russian weaponry, integrating into the Russian command structure, handling and overcoming the language barrier with Russian troops», intelligence adds.
It is noted that in the last week of October 2024, Russia relocated over 7,000 North Korean military personnel from the Primorsky Krai close to the regions near Ukraine. They were equipped with 60 mm mortars, AK-12 assault rifles, and machine guns.
The US also stated that up to 8,000 military from North Korea have been repositioned to the Kursk region.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with the South Korean TV channel KBS that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin involved North Korean military personnel in the war against Ukraine to avoid additional mobilization in Russia. Zelensky added that currently, there are 3,000 North Korean troops in Russian training camps, and their number will grow to 12,000 soon.
It was reported that the UN Security Council convened to discuss the deployment of North Korean troops on the front lines in Ukraine. A representative of Ukraine at the UN Security Council meeting stated that North Korean troops might directly participate in combat actions against the Armed Forces of Ukraine as soon as November.
Earlier, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte confirmed Russia's involvement of North Korean troops in the war against Ukraine. According to him, military units from North Korea are currently stationed in Russia's Kursk region. This was announced by the Secretary General of the Alliance at a press conference.
