Modern parenting challenges: how technology tries to help

According to Vox: Many people prepare for parenthood by reading books and attending courses, however, nothing can fully prepare them for all the challenges that may arise.

One such challenge is addressing logistical demands and bureaucratic excesses. Even what may seem like a simple decision, such as choosing dinner, can become a problem. Therefore, many parents try to plan meals for the week for all family members. There are also dozens of other tasks that need to be solved daily, from household chores to school matters, and there is always a shortage of time in the daily schedule.

It is not surprising that an entire industry has emerged to support young families with various tools borrowed from corporate culture.

The demand for such technological solutions has increased as the demands of modern parenting grow. A 2025 study conducted by the Office of the Surgeon General showed that almost half of American parents consider the stress they experience to be immense. Women typically bear more mental load, spending more time on organizational concerns. Another study found that women, on average, do 71% of the cognitive work at home, while men do only 29%.

“Organizing family life is work, and it is primarily placed on women, especially in heterosexual couples,” noted Allison Daminger, assistant professor of sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and author of the upcoming book 'What's on Her Mind: The Mental Load of Family Life.'
