Ukrainian footballer received a 9-match ban for racism: details of the scandal.
Sanctions for the Preston player
According to The Sun: Preston North End striker Milutin Osmaev received a nine-match ban for racist remarks made towards Hanibal Mehbray. The incident, which occurred during a championship match between Preston and Bournemouth in February, sparked outrage in Mehbray, who immediately reported the referee, causing a delay in the game for several minutes.
“What happened on the field is absolutely unacceptable, and we cannot tolerate such behavior,”- commented the club.
The disciplinary actions were a consequence of an investigation conducted after the match. Osmaev admitted his guilt, and such harsh measures should serve as a warning to all players.
This incident once again emphasizes how important it is to combat manifestations of racism in sports. Preston North End has clearly stated that it will not tolerate such behavior, and this decision may serve as a regulator for other footballers, prompting them to be accountable for their words on the field.
