Chelsea will not be able to build a new stadium: council supports another project.
New difficulties for the Chelsea stadium project
According to The Sun: Chelsea's prospects for building a new super stadium in the Earl's Court area have suffered a serious blow. The local authority has supported competing plans worth £10 billion for this site. The Hammersmith and Fulham Council approved a large-scale renovation of the old Earl's Court exhibition center, which includes the construction of thousands of new housing units, as well as shops, bars, and offices.
“We believe this project will be the foundation for the development of the area and will benefit local residents,” said a council representative.
This new project indeed significantly complicates the situation for Chelsea, which hoped to realize its ambitions of creating a modern stadium.
In the current situation, the club will have to rethink its strategies and plans for the future, as competition from the new development makes the chances of building a stadium slimmer. The implementation of the £10 billion project could radically change the structure and appearance of the area, jeopardizing Chelsea's hopes for a new home stadium.
