Host Chris Evans returned to mobile communication due to son's illness.
According to The Sun: Chris Evans admitted that the return to mobile phones happened under difficult circumstances, even though he previously claimed he was happier without one.
In 2019, the 59-year-old host announced that he would no longer use a mobile phone.
At that time, during a discussion about New Year's wishes, he told his listeners on Virgin Radio:
“We can still discuss our New Year's resolutions: I made two big decisions. I no longer own a phone... It’s not in the console department in the car, it’s not hidden, I have zero screen hours to later allow myself to use it. I no longer have a phone.”
However, Chris has now stated that he is using an old mobile phone again.
He shared with Virgin Radio listeners:
“I’m still on iPhone 7, so if you look closely, it’s like 17. I actually have an iPhone 7. I bought it at a local store.”
Chris admitted that he returned to the world of mobile phones about 12 weeks ago.
“I lost my phone during the London Marathon, and I thought: ‘Yes! I lost my phone again – hooray!’ Then everyone said: ‘You need to get a new one,’ I replied: ‘No, I don’t need to.’”
Discovering the sad reason he needed a phone, Chris noted:
“It’s good that I have it because Eli had health problems, and that's essentially why I need a phone. Several people asked: ‘What if a medical emergency happens in the family?’ I thought that didn’t happen.”
“But you know what? It happened, so I listened to everyone, I paid attention to the universe, but still bought only iPhone 7, and it’s so slow, but I’ve gotten used to it.”
At the end of last month, Chris reported that his son Eli was in the hospital after surgery.
The radio host raises his son with his wife Natasha Shishmanian. They also have twins Walt and Boo, as well as son Noah.
Chris shared a family photo showing Eli in a hospital bed.
Chris Evans, confessing his experiences, shared not just news about his gadget, but also revealed personal family circumstances that prompted him to return to the world of mobile phones. His decision resulted from a serious situation in the family related to his son's health. This underscores just how important modern communication and access to information is in today’s world.
