Peppers in August 2025: What to Fertilize for Meaty Fruits.
In August, when the peppers in the garden have already set and are actively forming, it is important to take good care of them. Experienced gardeners shared what this popular vegetable should be fertilized with at the end of summer 2025 to ensure it grows meaty.
News.LIVE shares useful tips for gardeners.
What Peppers Need in August
In the last month of summer, peppers send all their energy into fruit development, so it is important to provide them with calcium and potassium during this period. Calcium strengthens the cell membranes in the fruits, making their walls thick and crunchy, and protects them from blossom end rot due to a lack of this element.
Potassium, in turn, is responsible for transporting sugars and nutrients from the leaves to the fruits. Thanks to potassium, the flesh of peppers becomes dense, sweet, and fragrant.
What to Fertilize Peppers with in August 2025
Mineral Fertilizers
Among mineral fertilizers, potassium nitrate and calcium nitrate are more suitable for peppers in August. Once, water the plants at the root with a solution of potassium nitrate at a rate of 25-30 grams per ten liters of water, and a week later, spray the leaves on the bushes with calcium nitrate at a ratio of 20-25 grams per ten liters of water.
Alternate feeding every seven to ten days, and under no circumstances should you mix these fertilizers in one container.
Organic Fertilizers
From the list of organic fertilizers, wood ash is needed for peppers in August, which is considered a source of potassium. To do this, pour a glass of ash with ten liters of hot water, let it steep for one day, and water the peppers at the root.
You can also fertilize the bushes with whey at a rate of one liter per five liters of water. Spray the plants with the prepared mixture once a week.
