The Marriage in 4 Hours: How a Chinese Man Lost 34,000 Dollars in One Month

According to ТСН: In China, 40-year-old Huang Zhongchen became a hot topic on social media after getting married just four hours after a blind date and losing all his savings – over 240,000 Yuan (34,000 US dollars) – just a month later.

This case sparked lively discussions online, as the man spent all his savings on a woman he barely knew.

Fast Love

Huang hails from the city of Hengyan in Hunan province. On August 21, he went on a blind date. The man claims that on his way to the meeting, he unexpectedly encountered eight marriage brokers who, along with an acquaintance, advised him to choose the same woman who worked in a local beauty salon.

According to Huang, everything happened very quickly. After a brief acquaintance, the woman insisted on an immediate marriage registration, so the couple went to the registry office at around 5 PM that same day.

“Everything happened so fast that I felt like I was in a dream. I even told her: ‘Today feels like a dream,’

— he recalls.

The couple spent the night in a hotel, and that was their only intimate encounter. Afterwards, she didn’t even allow him to hug her.

Financial Difficulties

Soon, the woman insisted that Huang go to Guangdong to earn money and began constantly asking for money. She repeatedly asked him to “lend” her money for various expenses: to celebrate Qixi (the Day of the Lovers), to buy new items, and to cover expenses for her daughter.

Often, she completely ignored his messages, and when she responded, it was again about money.

On September 6, she claimed her daughter needed a computer, and Huang transferred her 2300 Yuan (320 dollars). Previously, he had also sent her a traditional “red envelope” on WeChat for 1,314 Yuan – a symbolic amount meaning “eternity.” In response, she just wrote:

“Thank you, my darling.”

Huang reports that his wife had spent all her 240,000 Yuan in less than a month.

“We met on August 21, and by September 8, all my savings were gone,”

— said the man.

This story serves as a reminder of the dangers of impulsive decisions, especially when it comes to marriage and financial matters. Spontaneous choices can have serious consequences, which is why it is important to thoroughly consider such significant decisions in life.
