Experienced gardeners categorically do not recommend mowing strawberries after harvesting. The fact is that the root system of berry bushes starts to develop faster after mowing, and this procedure disrupts the process of photosynthesis, in which the leaves of the strawberry participate.
Many gardeners believe that along with the old leaves of strawberries, pests will disappear, so they start to mow them. Although this opinion is erroneous, as it does not happen.
Strawberry pruning rules in July
Gardeners advise against mowing strawberries in July and selectively pruning their bushes. Be sure to remove old leaves with shears and discard diseased bushes to avoid damaging the rest of the plants. It is also important to feed the bushes after pruning with complex fertilizers.
Remember that proper pruning of strawberries will help support their health and fruitfulness, allowing you to get more berries in the next season.
