Olha Navrotskaya explained why she consciously refuses motherhood.
According to ТСН: The Ukrainian writer and screenwriter Olha Navrotskaya openly shared her thoughts on motherhood for the first time.
The 51-year-old wife of the musician Fagot admitted that she does not plan to become a mother. She noted that she is not ready to take on the responsibility for a new life in the modern world. According to her, this position did not appear spontaneously — it has been formed over the years, especially against the backdrop of war and global instability.
"The feeling was strengthened that in such times it is so difficult. My feeling is that this life is so painful and difficult despite all its pleasures. Moments of happiness are, of course, wonderful. But life is very cruel. I don't think I want to wish this on anyone — to consciously give birth to a child and say: 'Here, live in this beautiful world'", she explained in an interview with Ramina Eskhakzai.
She also added that if there were confidence in a safe future and the end of the war waged by Russia against Ukraine, she might have thought about motherhood. However, for now, she says she does not see herself in that role.
"I just can't — and that's it. I have always pretended to fight it, but subconsciously I was always childfree (the desire not to have children — ed.). I never dreamed of children. There are women who dream of motherhood — and for me, they are superwomen. A woman who has given birth to and raised a child — for me, she is a goddess", the writer emphasized.
Navrotskaya emphasized that she has never considered the absence of children as a shortcoming or inner void. On the contrary, she sees her fulfillment in creativity, which she calls her "children".
"My children are my creativity", she succinctly summed up.
It is also worth noting that Fagot is raising his son Mykyta. He divorced his son's mother during pregnancy, as he felt a strong attraction to Olha Navrotskaya. Currently, after more than 10 years of romance, the singer was spotted with another girl at the end of November, which sparked rumors about troubles in his relationship with the writer.
Discussing motherhood in the context of modern challenges and personal choices of Olha Navrotskaya becomes an important focal point in the conversation about women's happiness and fulfillment. Her position clearly demonstrates how external circumstances can influence the most personal decisions. This illustrates the complexity of the choice that many modern women face in Ukraine and the world at large.
