According to The Sun: Ego Nwodim, popular actress and comedian, announced her departure from the show Saturday Night Live after seven seasons. In her statement on Instagram, she noted that 'the hardest part of a big party is knowing when to say goodnight.'

In her statement, Ego wrote: “After seven unforgettable seasons, I have decided to leave SNL.” She expressed gratitude to show boss Lorne Michaels, colleagues, writers, and all the crew.

“I am endlessly grateful to Lorne for the opportunity, to my colleagues, writers, and crew for their brilliance, support, and friendship. Every week on that stage, I learned more than I could ever imagine and will carry those memories and laughter with me.”

To conclude, she added: “Now invite me to your weddings, please!”, highlighting her availability on Saturday nights.

Other SNL cast members and celebrities expressed their surprise and gratitude in the comments.

“I just messaged you but want to say this loud and proud here: it was an honor and absolute joy to work with you. One of the best!” – wrote former co-star Cecily Strong.
“What??? I will miss this!!!! But congratulations!” – replied friend and Today host Jenna Bush Hager.

Ego was memorable to viewers with her vibrant characters, such as Lisa from Temecula and Miss Eggy during Weekend Update. Her unique performance style gained popularity, especially when she accidentally prompted viewers to use profanity live on air.

Changes in the SNL lineup

Ego Nwodim's departure is part of significant changes in the SNL cast ahead of the 51st season starting in October. Michael Longfellow, Emil Wakiim, and Devon Walker have also announced their departures from the show, and long-time cast member Heidi Gardner will not return.
