Experts of the Davos Forum Warned About a Key Threat in 2025.
Armed Conflicts the Biggest Risk in 2025 - WEF
According to a survey by the World Economic Forum (WEF), the greatest threat to economic growth in 2025 is armed conflicts, stated every fourth expert, including scientists, businesspeople, and politicians. Additionally, extreme weather conditions, which were the main issue last year, rank second among risks.
The Managing Director of the WEF stated that the stakes are incredibly high, and world leaders must choose between cooperation and resilience or the escalating instability. Special attention will be paid to the situation in Syria, the 'terrible humanitarian situation in Gaza,' and the potential escalation of conflict in the Middle East.
The WEF survey also indicated that the most serious global threat in the next two years is misinformation. Over the past decade, environmental threats have been a priority for experts. Extreme weather conditions, loss of biodiversity, changes in Earth systems, and natural resource scarcity have been significant risks.
The overall risk is defined as a condition that can negatively impact a significant share of the world's GDP, population, or natural resources. Most respondents believe that a multipolar, fragmented global order will remain.
The WEF will commence on January 20, the same day Donald Trump takes the oath as President of the United States. Trump's address to participants is expected to take place online. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will also participate in the forum and deliver a speech on January 21.
