President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky received an invitation from Chief Rabbi Moshe Asman to visit the Central Synagogue in Kyiv. This step may become an important symbol of cultural tolerance and attention to the diversity of religions in Ukraine.
"We were waiting for him during the Passover holiday, but he did not come... We always wait for him here... I would like him to come so that we can pray together... I would call him to read the Torah" - shared the head rabbi of Ukraine.
Zelensky has always refrained from openly disclosing his religious affiliation, stating only about his faith in God. He visits temples as part of cultural heritage, and a visit to the synagogue may be another step in supporting interfaith dialogue and understanding in Ukraine.
