At the Emmy ceremony, many famous actors were overlooked: who was missed in the memorial

According to The Sun: Fans expressed outrage that many beloved actors were absent from the 'In Memoriam' segment at the Emmy Awards.

The 77th Emmy Awards took place on Sunday night and traditionally honored the stars we lost over the year.

Vince Gill and Lainey Wilson performed their famous song 'Go Rest High on That Mountain' while a memorial video was shown on screen.

The tribute remembered dozens of famous actors, directors, writers, and others, but viewers noticed the absence of several notable figures.

Among those not mentioned was movie star Gene Hackman, who passed away just a few months ago.

The star of 'Mississippi Burning' died in February at the age of 95. His death was announced just hours before the 2025 Oscars ceremony, where he was remembered by friend Morgan Freeman.

Fans hoped he would receive recognition at the Emmys and were disappointed when his photo did not appear on screen.

“Where was Gene Hackman in the 'In Memoriam'?” asked one user on X.
“Did I miss GENE HACKMAN? Was he included??” added another.

Also missing from the list were Jonathan Joss, known for his roles in 'King of the Hill' and 'Parks and Recreation', and Lynne Marie Stewart, who appeared in 'Charlie’s Mom' and 'It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia'.

Jonathan died in June at the age of 59 after a shooting in San Antonio.

“Lynne Marie Stewart wasn't in the #Emmys In Memoriam?” added another.

The ceremony often provokes a negative reaction, as fans frequently complain about the selectivity of the list.

Shortly after the tribute, actor Brad Garrett from 'Everybody Loves Raymond' joked that he fears he won't make the list when his time comes.

Ray Romano, his co-star, assured that Brad will be on the list if “it’s a slow year,” which elicited laughter from the audience.

The absence of these iconic figures and others has caused real outrage among fans who believe the tribute should include everyone who made significant contributions to the industry.

The 'In Memoriam' segment at the Emmy Awards continues to be more than just a formality, but an important part of remembering, and its perception remains ambiguous among viewers.
