Defense Industry of Northern Europe and the Baltics Unites

Leading enterprises in the defense industry of Northern European and Baltic countries have signed an agreement to expand cooperation. They have created a defense innovation network called ODIN (Organization for Defense Innovations in the Nordic Countries), aimed at accelerating the development, financing, and testing of defense technology in these countries.

Finnish companies and dozens of Lithuanian, Estonian, Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish companies, research institutes, and organizations receiving government support signed the agreement. These companies form the ODIN network. This collaboration was established to enhance the defense technology of each country.

'We are a superpower in terms of people and money. We can utilize Finnish military experience, Swedish industry, Danish commercialization, and Norwegian oil money to build infrastructure. If we succeed in making defense a supranational endeavor, it will benefit all of us,' said Peter Sperling, Director of Innovation at the Danish National Center for Defense Technology.

According to Sperling, a large ecosystem is necessary for defense, which includes both startups and large corporations, research organizations, and military representatives. Previously, startups did not participate in defense projects, but this is beginning to change.
