Fetisov against broadcasting the Olympics-2026 in Russia: named the reason.
According to inkorr.com: Two-time Olympic champion and State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Fetisov expressed disagreement with the broadcast of the 2026 Winter Olympics on Russian television. This information was reported by 'Glavkom'.
Currently, three Russian athletes who will compete under neutral status have qualified for the 2026 Winter Olympics.
‘I believe that it should not be shown. Because we were expelled without justification. If our athletes had not qualified or received a license, but we were simply thrown out. Showing the Olympics in Russia would be a betrayal of those Russian athletes who did not go there, who were not allowed for various reasons,’ Fetisov stated.
Earlier it was reported that the Council of the International Ski Federation (FIS) decided not to allow Russians and Belarusians to the Olympic qualifying competitions.
‘The FIS Council voted to not allow athletes with individual neutral status (AIN) to the qualifying competitions for the 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Milan. The AIN status was developed by the International Olympic Committee as a possible path for athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in the qualifying competitions for the 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. At the same time, each international federation retains the right to independently decide whether to allow these athletes to qualify or not,’ the FIS press service said in a statement.
Russian athlete turned out to be a friend of the occupier
It is worth noting that Russian speed skater Daniil Naidenishev, who was recognized as a neutral athlete by the International Skating Union (ISU), turned out to be a friend of the Russian occupier Mikhail Lebedev.
On his Instagram, Naidenishev subscribed to the page of Lebedev, who is participating in the war against Ukraine. On his page, Lebedev posts photos and videos from military actions. At the same time, Lebedev is also subscribed to Naidenishev.
Fetisov's statements add new dimensions to the topic of the 2026 Olympics, raising questions of fairness regarding Russian athletes. Moreover, the connection between Naidenishev and Lebedev may raise concerns about his participation in international competitions and support for military actions.
