FIFA refutes rumors about the admission of the Russian women's national team.
According to inkorr.com: The message that the Russian women's national team would quickly receive the right to participate in international competitions under the auspices of FIFA and UEFA has turned out to be false. This was reported by the head of the Russian Football Union, Maxim Mitrofanov.
Earlier, a Russian Telegram channel spread rumors about the possible admission of the Russian women's national team to the qualifiers for the 2027 World Cup. However, the general secretary of the RFU confirmed that currently, no changes have occurred, and cooperation with international sports organizations continues in the usual mode.
“There are no changes so far. We need to ask those who write. But, in general, we are working with UEFA and FIFA, of course, as always,” stated Mitrofanov.
Let us remind you that since the beginning of the Russian aggression against Ukraine in February 2022, the Russian national team and Russian football clubs have been excluded from international tournaments.
Recent events: Russian athletes at a propaganda event
In response to the demands of the International Skating Union, Russian skater Aleksandra Saitina received the status of a neutral athlete. However, this did not prevent her from participating in the annual event organized by dictator Vladimir Putin before the Federal Assembly.
Interestingly, against the backdrop of complicated international relations, sports and politics continue to intertwine, and athletes become participants in the propaganda initiatives of their countries.
Events surrounding Russian sports continue to cause outrage in the international community. The prolonged isolation of Russian athletes indicates the serious consequences of political decisions that complicate their participation in international competitions. The situation may only change with a shift in the political context or decisions by international federations, but for now, everything remains unchanged.
