Mircea Lucescu became a record holder for the longest coaching career in the world at the helm of a national team. This was reported by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).

The 79-year-old Lucescu became the coach of the Romanian national team in August. Under his leadership, the team won all three matches in the Nations League.

After the victory over Cyprus, Lucescu set a world record. He has been serving as the coach of the Romanian national team for 42 years and 336 days.

Lucescu played his first match as the coach of the Romanian national team in November 1981 against Switzerland, where the teams drew 0-0. He remained in this position until 1986, working simultaneously as the coach of Bucharest's Dinamo for nearly a year.

Let's recall that a Ukrainian athlete set a new national record in monofin swimming. She has been recognized as the world champion in diving for the third Time in a row.
