Harry Lloyd avoided losing his driving license

According to The Sun: Actor Harry Lloyd, known from the series 'Game of Thrones', avoided losing his driving license after speeding twice in one day in his £40,000 BMW.

41-year-old Harry got into trouble on November 28 last year on the A205 motorway in Clapham, southwest London. He was initially stopped for exceeding the speed limit by 24 miles per hour, and later that evening, on the same street, he was driving at 25 miles per hour near Clapham Common.

The married actor, 41, was spotted when driving at 24 miles per hour in a zone where 20 miles per hour is allowed, on the A205 in Clapham. Lloyd left the court after he avoided losing his driving license for two speeding offenses in one day.

The actor explained in court that his one-year-old son had recently been in the hospital:

“That day was Thanksgiving celebration, and my wife is American. During [the speeding], I was very flustered and couldn’t focus.”

Lloyd, who already had nine penalty points for previous offenses, tried to explain why he was in a hurry:

“She doesn’t have a British license. I have two kids, and they need to attend medical appointments.”

Judge Anna Troiano asked if there were other ways to get to the hospital, to which Lloyd replied:

“I can try to find a taxi. The hospital is about 20-30 minutes away.”

Ultimately, the court ruled:

“Considering everything you said about your son and his circumstances, we have decided not to revoke your license.”

However, he will now have 15 penalty points on his license, and the judge warned that

“Any further offense may lead to automatic revocation of your license.”

Lloyd was fined £384 plus additional costs, totaling £668.

The actor already had nine points for previous offenses.

Lloyd is the great-great-grandson of renowned writer Charles Dickens and has appeared in projects such as BBC's 'Taking the Flak', 'The Hollow Crown', 'The Theory of Everything', and FX's 'Legion'. In 2014, he played his first lead role in the film 'Closer to the Moon'.

The actor has also appeared in the BBC series Doctor Who.

The situation of Harry Lloyd serves as another reminder of how important it is to follow traffic rules, despite personal circumstances. His relationship with speed and possible legal consequences raises questions about driver responsibility and the influence of personal life on decision-making behind the wheel. Although the actor managed to avoid losing his license, the high fine and court warning may serve as a serious cause for reflection in the future.
