G7 foreign ministers held a telephone conversation regarding the situation in the Middle East, the U.S. State Department reports.
According to the message, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his G7 colleagues discussed the need for an immediate de-escalation in the Middle East.
Efforts are ongoing to reach a ceasefire agreement between the group "HAMAS" and Israel. This will allow for the release of hostages and increase the volume of humanitarian aid coming to Gaza.
Furthermore, it was discussed how a ceasefire in Gaza could contribute to peace and stability in the region.
Antony Blinken and the foreign ministers also reaffirmed their support for Israel's security and called on all parties to exercise maximum restraint to avoid escalating the conflict.
