Ian did not share details about his health issues, but in a recorded video for the Toronto Film Festival, he confirmed that 'medical advisors' advised him against traveling.

He also emphasized that 'it is better to be safe than to regret later.'

The new film 'The Christophers' is a dark comedy directed by Steven Soderbergh. It also stars Michaela Coel, James Corden, and Jessica Henwick.

The plot of the film revolves around the children of a famous artist who hire a forger to finish his unfinished works after his death.

FALLING ON STAGE

This film marks Ian's first project since he fell on stage in London last year during the performance of 'Henry IV.'

At that time, he broke his wrist and suffered a spinal fracture, but he admits that the costume for his role as Falstaff saved him from more serious injuries.

Ian explained: “My injured spine and broken wrist have not healed yet. I avoid going out because I am afraid someone might hit me, and I feel unbearable pain in my shoulders.”

“But my bulky costume saved me, so I consider myself lucky.”

HEALTH ISSUES

Ian also spoke about memory deterioration, acknowledging that he now finds it hard to remember his best friend's name.

He mentioned in an interview for the BBC: “I forget names... When you are older, you have to remember more than younger people.”

“It makes life difficult when you cannot remember your best friend's name or your phone number.”

Despite this, Ian is eager to continue his career.

“What would I do if I weren't working?” – the actor asks. “Work while my legs, lungs, and mind still function.”

Splash Despite his health issues, Ian McKellen remains energetic and dedicated to his profession. His new film 'The Christophers' promises to be another significant milestone in his career, continuing to inspire fans around the world. The actor, as a testament to his successful career, proves that talent and the desire to work do not fade over time.
