House Of Guinness depicts real scandals, power struggles, and secrets of the most famous family in Ireland.

The series reconsiders the repercussions of Sir Benjamin Guinness's death against the backdrop of 19th-century Dublin and New York.

The Happy Valley actor emphasized his determination to accurately portray the accent:

“I worked hard. I was aware that many actors made mistakes, and the Irish are a proud nation, so if you get something wrong, it will be known.”

Norton also noted that he received tremendous support from his co-stars:

“I worked hard and got great support from my fellow cast members.”

Norton, who recently starred in and co-produced the historical drama King & Conqueror for BBC One, spoke about his understanding of 19th-century Irish history thanks to the show.

“It’s always a privilege, and part of our job is getting the chance to explore historical periods that might otherwise go unnoticed.”

He also highlighted the impact of the Guinness family business on Dublin's architecture and their charitable initiatives:

  • “I didn’t realize how influential the Guinness family was in Dublin’s architecture.”
  • “They became pioneers in their field, becoming one of the first multinational beverage companies.”

The series also explores the implications of Sir Benjamin's will on the lives of his four adult children: Arthur (played by Anthony Boyle), Edward (Lewis Partridge), Anna (Emily Fern), and Benjamin (Fionn O'Shea).

Boyle, 31, whose character is gay, revealed that he drew inspiration from Oscar Wilde's poetry:

“I read a lot about Oscar Wilde, especially considering the threat that at that time someone might discover your sexuality.”

He also emphasized his pride that the series foregrounds Irish culture:

“I’m very proud that Irish culture has such a wonderful moment on the world stage.”

Steven Knight, 66, who is writing the next James Bond film, believes that the opportunity to showcase Irish culture is a significant achievement:

“It’s not an effort to implement it; it already is. It’s all part of a younger generation of Irish actors.”

Knight also noted that the Guinness family provides a fantastic impetus for dramatic storytelling:

“I was surprised that no one had done this before since the story has such captivating characters and family dynamics.”

The series House Of Guinness will premiere on Netflix this Thursday.
