In the tropical forests of the Amazon, archaeologists found a lost city. It was hidden by vegetation for thousands of years. Using LiDAR remote sensing technology, they were able to reconstruct its street layout.
Archaeologists from the University of São Paulo led the search team. They found a Portuguese city that existed many years ago. Pulsed lasers were used for this, allowing the creation of three-dimensional maps of the area.
Additionally, during the research, an abandoned settlement was discovered in the state of Rondon that was previously marked on maps but then disappeared. Scientists also remind us that they found the skull of a giant river dolphin that once lived in the rivers of the Amazon in Peru.
