According to The Sun: This is one of the most shocking thefts in the history of show business.

While much has been said about the trauma Kim Kardashian experienced as a victim of five armed robbers in 2016, very little is known about the man who was with her: the hotel's concierge Abderrahman Watiqi.

In the new documentary 'Inside the Kim Kardashian Robbery', premiering today on Discovery+, Abderrahman reveals details of his experience.

The Night of the Attack

On the night of the attack, Kim attended a Givenchy show to watch her sister Kendall Jenner walk the runway. After the show, she stayed at the Hôtel de Pourtalès, famously known as the 'hotel without an address', as it is so exclusive it has no signs on the doors.

During a conversation with friends, Abderrahman recalls that a group of men disguised as police forced him to open the door. He thought they were real police officers until he realized they were robbers.

“One of them pointed a gun at me and shoved me hard. Three of them threw me onto the table and said: ‘We are here for the money’,” he shares.

They can take everything, but I have to go home to my kids.

Abderrahman also noted that Kim asked him to translate her words to the robbers, trying to talk about her children. Both of them were tied up and had their mouths taped. Kim was left in the bathroom, while he was in the closet next to the lobby.

Problems After the Attack

Although physically Abderrahman remained unharmed, after the attack, he began to feel pressure, the investigation was prolonged, and he was suspected of being involved in the crime. The police tapped his phone, not ruling out the possibility that he had provided the robbers with information about Kim.

I initially became the scapegoat for this establishment's failure... even McDonald's in Paris is safer than this hotel.

Eventually, after a thorough investigation, his innocence was proven, but his name is still associated with this high-profile crime.

Trial and Support

At the trial in Paris, Kim personally met her attackers. After the verdict was announced, she expressed gratitude to the French authorities for justice, noting that this crime left an indelible mark on her life and her family's life.

When you feel the cold metal of a gun on your neck, that moment of remaining calm can mean the difference between life and death.

Although Kim managed to rebuild her life, for Abderrahman, this experience remains a deep trauma. He still faces post-traumatic stress disorder and nightmares.

In the documentary, he asks: “Who can compensate me for everything that happened?”
