Incident with James McAvoy in Toronto

According to The Sun: James McAvoy, the Scottish actor, fell victim to an attack in a bar in Toronto. This incident occurred during his stay in the city for the premiere of the film 'California Schemin'', where he made his directorial debut.

The 46-year-old actor was having a quiet night with his wife, Lisa Liberati, when an unpleasant situation arose around 11:55 PM on Monday.

Bar Incident

According to a source close to McAvoy, 'James was having a simple meeting with the producers of his film, and when he saw a drunk man being escorted out of the bar, he couldn't avoid the conflict.'

“James's back was to him, and the man just hit him,” said the source.

Despite the blow, McAvoy remained in the bar and even joked about the incident with other patrons, the source added.

The incident took place at Charlotte's Room, but it's unclear whether the attacker was aware that he struck the 'X-Men' star or if it was just a coincidence.

Film Premiere

McAvoy came to Canada for the premiere of 'California Schemin'', where he made his directorial debut. The film tells the true story of two Scotsmen – Gavin Bain and Billy Boyd, who falsely obtained a record deal by posing as protégés of Eminem.

Under the alias Silibil N' Brains, they had the opportunity to attend parties with Madonna, appeared on MTV, and toured with rap legends.

The film also features Seamus McLean Ross, Samuel Bottomley, Lucy Holliday, and Rebecca Murrell.

The film is based on Bain's autobiography 'California Schemin'', which was later reissued under the title 'Straight Outta Scotland'.

James McAvoy's Personal Vision

McAvoy, who grew up in Drumchapel, Glasgow, noted that he is interested in telling stories about working-class people that can be humorous.

“I was interested in storytelling not just about Scotland but about people who have fewer opportunities, whether from social housing complexes or elsewhere,” he expressed last year.

He gained worldwide fame for his role as Mr. Tumnus in the fantasy film 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' and as a hitman in the blockbuster 'Need for Speed'.
