Tommy Fury in the spotlight again: rival challenges the boxer.
According to The Sun: Rival Tony Fury, whom he pushed during the Great North Run, has invited him to a competition.
Diarmuid Warner, a 38-year-old plumber, felt a hand gently touch his forearm at the last turn of the race.
Boxer Tony Fury received a race challenge from the man he pushedHandout - GettyHe recognized the boxer and reality TV star and later shared his impressions with his wife:
“You’ll never guess what happened — Tony Fury pushed me aside.”
Diarmuid, who is from Dumbarton and is raising funds for muscular dystrophy research, is ready to compete with Fury, but not in a boxing match:
“Not in a boxing match unless he ties one hand behind his back.”
Tony, 26, has already been the target of ridicule when he nearly collided with an elderly woman during a race in Cheshire in January. It was later reported that the boxer couldn't finish a triathlon last month.
Diarmuid told The Sun:
“When you get to the finish line, it seems like the line is right in front of you. Only in the last few meters do you realize you need to make one more right turn.”
“In that moment when I was making the turn, I felt this hand on my shoulder. Tony pushed me to run ahead.”
He added:
“I was a bit upset and thought that this wasn’t in the rules of racing.”
“I started with thousands of people who were running slower, but you just go around them, you don’t push.”
The incident during the race became a topic of media discussion and raised questions about sports ethics and participant behavior. Diarmuid's reaction to the situation suggests that such behavior, even from a sports star, remains unacceptable. It is still unknown how events will unfold, but Diarmuid expressed a willingness to compete in an alternative format to call Fury to fair play without breaking the rules.
