Katie Price cancels performance at Pride event again: organizers criticize the star.
Katie Price cancels performance at Pride event
According to The Sun: Organizers of the LGBTQ+ Pride event criticized Katie Price for refusing to perform just hours before the event.
The 47-year-old former model was supposed to perform at the official party after the Milton Keynes Pride festival, but explained her decision citing filming schedules and recording a new single.
MK Pride FestivalKatie, who recently admitted she is undergoing tests due to cancer fears, posted a short video on Instagram apologizing for canceling her performance so close to the show.
Sitting in the backseat of a car, Katie noted that she plans to return next year. However, the MK Pride organizers expressed their dissatisfaction and released a sharp statement.
“Katie was 'booked and promoted' for the official party after the festival, which was a charity event, as MK Pride is a non-profit organization,” the statement said.
They added that they tried to contact Katie's management to fulfill the agreement, but received confirmation that she would not be able to meet her obligations.
“This decision was made at short notice and completely beyond our control,” the statement asserted.
The organizers emphasized their commitment to being transparent with the community, noting that despite Katie's support from the LGBTQ+ community, “unfortunately, that support was not mutual.”
“The choice not to fulfill her duties for the charitable Pride event indicates a lack of responsibility and professionalism, and we share the community's disappointment,” they added in the statement.
The organizers promised to find a replacement for Katie and offered refunds to those who changed their minds about attending the party.
“Although this situation is entirely beyond our control, Milton Keynes Pride remains, as always, fully committed to providing an inclusive, safe, and unforgettable celebration for our community,” the statement concluded.
Katie has experience performing at Pride events but has also canceled performances at the last minute.
In July, she was supposed to announce at Barnsley Pride but canceled her performance just hours before the event. Her close friend Kerry Katona also canceled her performance at the same event.
That same month, Katie refused to perform at Glasgow Pride due to “other urgent commitments.”
Despite not appearing at the recent Pride events, Katie has been a dedicated supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and has significant popularity among its representatives.
This year, she performed at Pride events in Dublin and Portsmouth, as well as held a show with a drag queen at The Clapham Grand in London in May.
