Katie Price cancels her appearance at the charity Pride event: what is the reason

According to The Sun: Katie Price has faced criticism for canceling her charitable performance, as she instead attended a party in honor of Chloe Ferry's 30th birthday.

The mother of five was invited to perform at the Milton Keynes Pride festival, and the organizers had to urgently seek another headliner due to her absence.

Katie claims she was 'on a shoot' and 'in the studio' at that time, posting photos of herself performing her hit I Got U in Newcastle.

The 47-year-old ex-model performed I Got U at LGBT events in 2017, and recently the song has gained popularity again on TikTok.

Katie said last week: “I’m so sorry to announce – I was supposed to be at the MK Pride festival next Saturday, and at the after-party at Pink Punters. I won’t be able to make it.”
She continued: “I’m in the studio recording a new song, so I’ll be there next year. I hope you all have a great time, and I’m really sorry. It’s just my filming schedule at the time...”

Katie also shared photos and videos on Snapchat showing her traveling to Newcastle and practicing her 'Geordie accent' with a friend.

After the party, she also posted a video FaceTiming her son Harvey.

One fan expressed disappointment: “I was upset when she canceled, but when I found out it was Chloe's birthday, I was furious. It’s wrong.”

“When she said she couldn’t perform at the charity concert due to filming, it was complete nonsense.”

Cancellations of Pride performances

This is not the first time Katie has backed out of a Pride event: in July, she was meant to appear at Barnsley Pride but canceled at the last minute.

Katie's close friend, Kerry Katona, also declined to attend the same event, and in the same month, Katie canceled her appearance at Glasgow Pride due to 'another urgent matter'.

Despite her recent cancellations, Katie has long supported the LGBTQ+ community and is quite popular among them.

This year, she performed at Pride events in Dublin and Portsmouth, and hosted a show with a drag queen in London in May.

Response from the organizers

Katie, who recently reported undergoing medical tests due to cancer fears, posted a short video on Instagram apologizing for canceling the Milton Keynes party.

The MK Pride organizers were unhappy and made a statement.

They noted that Katie was “booked and promoted” for the official after-party on September 13, which was a charity event, as MK Pride is a non-profit organization.
“Despite numerous attempts to reach out to fulfill this agreement, her management confirmed she would not be honoring her booking,” the statement read.

Thus, the organizers expressed regret that Katie’s support for the LGBTQ+ community was not mutual.

The situation surrounding Katie Price and her cancellation of the charity event has sparked considerable discussion among fans and organizers. Many believe that this decision contradicts her previous statements supporting the LGBTQ+ community. This incident highlights the issues that can arise between the commitments of celebrities and their personal schedules, which are often overloaded.

Given that Price remains a popular figure in the entertainment world, it will be interesting to see how she can restore her reputation among her supporters and find a way to balance her career with personal obligations.
