Katy Perry is slammed by family of veteran, 85, she ousted from $15m home after making brazen ‘justice’ claim in court.
According to The Sun: The family of the veteran is outraged by Katy Perry's claims of 'justice' made during the court hearing after evicting him from his million-dollar home.
The sons of Carl Westcott accused the singer of conducting a 'quite harsh legal battle while our mentally impaired army veteran father suffers from deteriorating health.'

The Westcott family is stunned that the pop star is suing the sick man, who receives round-the-clock care in a hospice, for $6 million to cover debts and potential damages.
$9 million has already been paid for his former Mediterranean estate in Montecito, which Westcott sold to the star for $15 million during the Covid pandemic.
Katy Perry testified on Tuesday in the California State District Court in Los Angeles before Judge Joseph Lipner.
A source present at the hearing told The U.S. Sun: “Perry appeared on Zoom at 11 AM as ordered. She was dressed in a gray sweater and pants that looked like pajamas. The background was blurred but seemed to be a luxurious hall.”
“She was very polite. Kept saying 'yes, sir' when addressing the court – but also looked calm.”
Perry was questioned by Westcott’s lawyer, Andrew Thomas, regarding the house purchase and to clarify who owns this luxurious property.
Proof of Ownership
Perry confirmed that she had seen and 'liked' the house before making an offer as per court documents.
She also told the court that her former fiancé Orlando Bloom is the real owner of the property.
Thomas asked, “After you received title on May 17, 2024… the title was recorded to a company called D Dove B LLC, correct?”
Perry confirmed, “Yes, sir.”

Thomas continued, “And Bernie Goodwy testified that this is true. Is it true that D Dove B LLC is Orlando Bloom’s company?”
According to documents, Perry replied, “That is one of his companies.”
Seeking Justice
She told the court she is seeking 'justice' in her civil case.
Thomas asked Perry, “Can you gain money or anything from the consequences of this case?”
She replied, “Yes, justice.”
Could Lose Money
The lawyer responded, “And regarding money – can you earn any money from the consequences of this case?”
Perry said, “I can lose money if it does not work out in my favor.”
When asked about the financial consequences, the singer replied that “financial losses could be spent money, attorney fees, lost rental income, and that's it.”
Family's Outrage
In a conversation with The U.S. Sun on Wednesday, one of Westcott's sons, Chart, who lives in Puerto Rico, criticized Perry's comments about 'justice.'
“Katy talks about seeking 'justice,' but for five years my family has endured a painful legal battle while our father, a mentally impaired 85-year-old veteran, deteriorates in health,” he remarked.
“In reality, the buyer was Orlando Bloom, but this only became known years later.
“Katy already owns several homes in Montecito and has extraordinary wealth. She could live anywhere in the world but chose to dig in where it deeply hurt our family.
“We wish there was more empathy, humanity, and understanding.”
Perry's representative has not yet commented on the situation.
Health Issues
Her lawsuit comes after a protracted legal battle over the purchase of the Montecito home from its former owner, Carl Westcott, who attempted to back out of the deal due to health issues.
He has Huntington's disease, which progressively affects parts of the brain over time.
Westcott accused the singer of taking advantage of his condition to acquire the California property.
But Perry, 40, and Bloom, 48, received the keys to the estate last year after winning a preliminary court case.

Perry's case against Westcott is currently being heard in court at the penalty phase.
Perry points to likely structural defects, unfinished maintenance, and lost rental income after purchasing the estate in 2020, according to court documents.
Allegations
The star's testimony on Tuesday followed scandalous allegations made in the Superior Court last Thursday, including:
- The judge was made aware that her ex-fiancé, Orlando Bloom, is the actual owner of the “luxury” property – not Perry
- The plaintiff’s attorney criticized Perry for expecting “star treatment” after her legal team requested to allow her to testify on the first day of court on August 21
- Judge Lipner called this “outrageous” and “wrong,” as Perry's limited availability was announced the day before the court, giving an advantage to Westcott's defense
- The Westcott team emphasized that insurance already paid $60,000 for a fallen tree and $80,000 for flooding, suggesting the claims were inflated
- The judge asked why Westcott should pay for an “act of God” regarding the fallen tree and flooding
Last Thursday, at the civil court in Los Angeles, confusion arose about who actually owns the house as reflected in the documents.
Perry’s business manager, Bernie Goodwy, was asked during cross-examination to confirm that Perry “bought the house.”
But Goodwy told Westcott's attorney, “She didn’t buy it... I don't know who bought the house.”
Andrew Thomas, the plaintiff's attorney, asked, “You don't know?”
Goodwy, who said he had worked with the star “since the beginning of her career,” replied, “I believe Mr. Bloom bought the house through some controlled entity.”
Thomas reiterated, “Do you believe that it is Mr. Bloom who bought the house?”
Perry's manager confirmed, “That is correct.”

After the initial success in the case of purchasing the Montecito home, Perry filed a lawsuit for damages of $6 million against Westcott, who is currently lying in a hospital bed.
The lawyer asked, “Is there any responsibility on your legal team's part for the untimely notification to Westcott's attorneys?”
The judge condemned Perry's legal team for lack of due diligence, pointing out that it was strategically disadvantageous for the opponent.
The case continues to be considered.
Who is Carl Westcott?
Katy Perry is suing an 85-year-old veteran suffering from a neurological disorder
Carl Westcott was born in 1939 in a charity hospital in Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Westcott and his five sisters lived in a house without indoor plumbing.
When Westcott was six, his father, who worked as a truck driver, left and never returned.
His mother became a nurse, earning only $5 for an eight-hour shift.
By the age of five, Westcott sold newspapers in front of the Vicksburg hotel and polished shoes.
“By the time I was eight, I was earning more than my mother.”
The judge decided that the boy should go to a Columbian learning school, a state institution, until the home situation improved.
When Westcott was 16, he asked his mother to change the date of birth in the family Bible to prove he was old enough to join the U.S. Army.
He became a paratrooper and was honorably discharged as a corporal.
After a successful career as a car salesman, he became the general manager of Sopp Chevrolet.
In 1983, Westcott bought the NBC television hut in Tyler, Texas.
His company, Westcott Communications, became a pioneer in producing educational programs in 18 fields, such as automotive dealership management, certified accountants, and law enforcement.
The company went public in 1989, and Westcott sold it in 1996.
Throughout his long life, he claimed to have always treated others with respect and dignity.
