On Paul Carrick Branson's podcast We Need To Talk, Kerry recalled her ups and downs. She spoke about living in many families and the hard times she had while visiting her mom in a psychiatric hospital.

Sue had a relationship with a woman named Tina, which was 'both good and bad' from the time Kerry was just two years old.

“This is just one example, Paul. There were always fights. I believe Tina hurt my mom. There were always fights, and what I saw, I can't even repeat because it was so cruel.”

Kerry also recalls the 'scary' man named Dave, whom she had to call dad, and who later inflicted serious injuries on her.

She remembers how she had to manage the household and buy food while her mom spent time on the streets.

“I could tell what this man would be like,”

Kerry recounted her first impressions of Dave when she was about seven years old.

“I went to bed with my mom, and she said to me: ‘Dave proposed to me.’ I replied: ‘Don't do it, mom… He will beat you. He will really beat you.’

Later, Kerry recalled how her mother sustained serious injuries from Dave.

“She came home bruised and with a shotgun wound to her head,” Kerry recalls. “After that, we had to hide.”
