According to ТСН: Chef and restaurateur Yevhen Klopotenko first shared the details of his engagement to Kateryna Voskresenska and the choice of an unusual format for this event.

After announcing the engagement, the chef noted that he came to this decision consciously and without haste. In a video on his YouTube channel, he explained that the first proposal took place in a quiet home atmosphere, without loud gestures. But this was just the first step.

Symbolic celebration

The second stage was filled with symbolism and Ukrainian traditions. Together with his fiancée, Yevhen organized a special celebration for relatives, during which he officially asked Kateryna's parents for their consent to marriage. The central elements of the ceremony included traditional bread baking, rings, and rituals inspired by ancient culture. Kateryna, in turn, prepared for her beloved a vyshyvanka as a symbolic gift.

Exploring traditions

The preparation for the engagement became a true exploration. Not only literature but also Yevhen's mother and aunt actively helped, suggesting details of ancient customs. Relatives also participated in the celebration, dressed in traditional attire, with towels and ritual pastries, along with musicians, dances, and speeches. For the celebration, Yevhen chose one of the restaurants in Kyiv, where an authentic menu was specially created to complement the atmosphere of the ceremony.

«I have understood my feelings for a long time. When I felt how it should be, I wanted to propose to Kateryna. At first, it was at home. I do not like the traditions of giving a ring and other things. To make it organic for me, I wanted to do a Ukrainian engagement. My mother and aunt shared some moments with me, and I read a lot. The engagement came first. The parents agreed, and the engagement took place. It had to be easy, and we refused to stress too much and did it as we felt. This is our interpretation of traditional engagements since we recreated some traditions from the past and adapted others to our time. This is not an ethnographic study, but our special and very warm day,» shared the star chef.
