Giant Carp in a British Canal: Monster Fish Mistaken for a Log.
According to ТСН: Residents of the United Kingdom witnessed an unusual phenomenon in a local canal. Initially, what seemed to be an ordinary log turned out to be a 'monster fish'. The giant carp glided calmly between the moored boats, surprising passersby with its size.
'A True Underwater Behemoth'
The enormous creature was spotted by local resident Sarah Mather in the Bridgwater Canal near Stratford (Greater Manchester). The woman admitted she couldn't believe her eyes when the 'log' started moving.
According to eyewitness estimates, the fish is over two feet long (about 60 cm) and may weigh over 30 pounds (more than 13.6 kg). In comparison, the average carp in these waters weighs between 4.5 to 9 kg.
'At first, I thought it was a log, but no. This is a true underwater behemoth. A carp of this size is a great rarity. We were truly shocked by what we saw,' Sarah recounted.
Historical Waters and Fishing Records
The Bridgwater Canal, where the giant was spotted, has a rich historical context. It was opened in 1761 for transporting coal to Manchester and became one of the symbols of the Industrial Revolution. Now, these waters amaze not with industrial achievements but with natural anomalies.
Interestingly, this is not the first time the canal has shown such surprises. In June of this year, a local fisherman pulled out a carp weighing about 11 kg. However, the new 'Leviathan' spotted by Sarah appears even more massive and could potentially break the previous record of the water body.
Let us recall that recently a fisherman caught a 'monster' in the river weighing more than a 10-year-old child. The man was lucky enough to extract from the water a carp that weighed an astonishing 32.5 kilograms.
This event highlights the interest in natural anomalies in the waters of the United Kingdom and shows how nature can surprise us even in familiar places. Giant carp appearing in canals add new colors to the fishing life in the region and attract the attention of nature lovers and anglers.
