Iryna Fedishyn's husband on the border delay: why charity lots were seized.
According to ТСН: Vitaliy Chovnyk, the husband and producer of Ukrainian singer Iryna Fedishyn, shared the difficulties they faced at the border while transporting items for charity auctions to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Charity tour and souvenirs
The ambiguously announced charity tour of the couple went abroad to raise funds for the needs of the Ukrainian army. They brought with them a number of souvenirs obtained from combat zones, some of which were even handed over 'heroically' from Crimea. Vitaliy noted that items such as shells and bullets were processed and mounted on trees to ensure safety.
Problems at the border
However, on November 27, Ukrainian border guards prohibited the export of most charity lots, despite having all the necessary documents. After three hours of checks, some souvenirs had to be left at the border, as the team tried to explain that each item held significant value for their fundraising efforts.
Comparison with Polish border guards
Vitaliy also compared the work of Ukrainian and Polish border guards. He stated that Polish law enforcement was less stringent and, after a brief explanation, allowed them to pass without problems. Despite all the difficulties, the singer's team did not stop and continued their work for the benefit of Ukraine.
‘It was a very difficult journey to Warsaw. We barely made it to the plane. Never before had it taken so long to cross the Ukrainian border, and the Poles saw that we were held for three hours and started a detailed inspection of us. They sent our two vans to the pit. I’ve never undergone such a detailed check. They even made us take off our shoes. Ukrainian border guards seized some of our lots. The Poles, by the way, had no claims regarding the lots, they just conducted a thorough inspection of all items. But it is what it is. The main thing is that we made it and we're flying out,’ the singer reported on Instagram.
Border guards have yet to comment on this situation. However, later the singer and her husband deleted posts and stories on Instagram regarding this issue.
Return to Ukraine
It is worth mentioning that recently singer SadSvit announced his return to Ukraine from abroad and new concerts.
This situation illustrates the challenges that Ukrainian citizens face when trying to support the army during wartime. While charitable initiatives continue to raise funds, administrative barriers can obstruct charitable activities, highlighting the need for improved procedures at border crossings.
